A new favorite, small change.,
27 February 2012
By: Cardo
"I purchased the classic tartan nylon liner which zips into the Bedale jacket. The design is exactly like the polar quilt waist coat but has cotton instead of fleece. The fleece liner and the jacket were too warm. If I need more warmth, I'd wear a sweater and leave the liner out of the jacket. The two front liner pockets are deep providing ample and safe storage. I would add an internal breast pocket to the liner. When the liner is zipped into the jacket it hides the internal breast pocket of the Bedale. While the liner is not touted as a shooting vest, I can see with its clean lines, fitted cut and deep external pockets, it might work in a pinch."

"I lovethis vest. I originally bought this vest to use as a liner but find myself wearing it often on it's own. The picture does not do it justice. True to size."

"The zip-in waistcoat is great for cold weather protection around the body, while leaving the arms free of bunching up in the sleeves."

great addition to a great jacket,

"Barbour Jackets are great, but without a liner they are not particularly warm. For cold weather usage, the liner is a great addition."

My Dad Loves It,
11 January 2012
By: annieo
"Bought this for my Dad for holidays and he loves it. He says it is ideal weight - warm but light. The deep front pockets are wonderful. The sizing is accurate. Although it can be used as a liner, this is perfect as a separate garment. The front zipper makes it easier to get on and off - especially for the older crowd. I think it is billed as reversible but that puts the label on the pocket on the outside - which looks silly to me."

Superior product!,
30 December 2011
By: DDrockytop
"Well worth the investment. This waistcoat is of the stellar quality you expect from Barbour. I have used this as an outside garment as well as seamlessly integrating it into my Bedale coat. The extra level of warmth, the interior fleece lining provides, is worth the extra expense."

Quality Zip-in Liner,
29 December 2011
By: spitter
from Naperville, IL
"Bought to compliment a Beaufort I purchased... both in Navy... well made, zips into the accessory zip system of the Beaufort, but would work equally well in the Border, Bedale or Gamefair jackets...
Usable as a standalone vest/waist coat. Finishing is top--notch. Nice fleece interior and the satin nylon facing slides nicely under the jackets' tartan lining without binding... great way to make the Barbour even more versatile throughout the year...
Again, a great Orvis offering..."

A winter essential,

"Delivered on time, and just in time for the really cold weather! The fleece lining makes all the difference to the Barbour jacket - it becomes a real winter coat, instead of purely a rain jacket."

lightweight warmth,
16 October 2011
By: wintergirl
from phila
"I love the "new" zip-in liners - my old Beaufort utilized the snap-in liner system; this is a real improvement. The polarquilt is thinner and lighter than the fleece pile liner, but I think it will also add warmth, esp if you're already wearing a sweater in cool weather. It's not yet cold enough to require the liner, so I can't verify the warmth, but from previous polarquilt products, I'm sure it will be fine. The olive color suits the olive Classic Bedale well."

"Another reviewer noted, once you put this lining in your jacket, the jacket is much tougher to actually get on and off, but the liner really makes a difference in the overall warmth of the jacket...essentially turning it into a coat. Although, it obviously doesn't do much for your arms. Kind of pricey, but turns a waterproof jacket, into a snow-proof coat. Worth it...highly recommend."
