"The vest feels good to wear and is especially great to wear when the air is a bit cool yet a full jacket is too much. The vest looks really nice and adds a more dressed up yet casual look to any shirt. It fits nicely over heavy flannel shirts too. The vest has a worn suede-like appearance and “feel” with an excellent shape and quality stitching. Being a somewhat heavy material, the pockets do “puff out” a bit which unfortunately allows the plaid pocket lining to show and distracts from or conflicts with the shirt fabric. Despite having the moleskin “under lap” the pocket lip about 1/4 inch, another 1/2 inch is necessary to avoid seeing the lining. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase."

"This is a very attractive product which (unusually for me), fit perfectly. My only, small, disappointment is that it requires dry cleaning due to the mixture of fibres (cotton plus synthetic)."

"This is a very nice vest. My only complaint is that I wish it were an inch or three longer. I'm a rather tall individual, with a long upper body, so it is difficult for me to find clothes that fit correctly. I love this vest, but in the future, I'd like to see this in a tall size."

"I like almost everything about the "Broken-In Moleskin Rancher's Vest". The fabric is great, light weight, doesn't wrinkle, and it fits well. It goes with jeans and chino pants like they were made for each other. The only disappointment with the vest for me is that the pockets sag a little and the gingham check pocket lining peeks through at the top of the pocket. Otherwise, it is perfect."

"The material in this vest is quite unique. Although it's a combination of synthetic and natural fibers, it looks like leather. It is lightweight, nicely designed and true to size relative to other Orvis products. There is the typical Orvis attention to detail in the patterned lining and the lining for the pockets. This has become my favorite and most comfortable vest."

"Orvis vests drive me crazy. The first 3 vests I ordered were in large (6'1", 200, athletic), and were much too big in the waist (even when adjusted). So this one I order as a medium and it is much too small in the chest but good in the waist. Am returning it for a large and hoping this one works - as the other reviews are spot on, a beautiful, functional garment!"

"How many times have you bought something from a catalog only to find that it looked a lot better in the catalog? Well I can honestly tell you, this vest looks better than the picture! In fact, I don't know what moleskin is supposed to be, but this looks like really good broken in leather...the kind that's seen a few good years from the top side of a ranch horse. It looks good on it's own with just a pair of jeans, or under a jacket if the Misses wants to go out to dinner. And one thing I really like, it's the only vest I own that the belt in the back doesn't constantly come undone! I guarantee you'll like this one. In fact, this is one of those few things I like so much I'm going to buy another one just for when this one wears out."

"When I saw this item in the Orvis catalogue, I fell in love with it. I thought I would order one in the new year. Can you imagine my surprise when I got it as a gift for Christmas.
I have owned garments made from moleskin in the past but the couldn't/ can't compare to the Rancer's Vest. The quality and detail that went into this vest makes it an instant classic. I look for an excuse to put it on everyday."
