Saratoga Lambskin Leather Jacket
A classic style first popularized by horse jockeys in the early 1900s. Designed to fit exceptionally well, it falls to the waist—not so long you sit on it in the car, nor too short to let in wind and cold. Crafted of rugged yet supple lambskin leather for everyday wear. A cotton moleskin body lining insulates. Nylon sleeve linings for easy on-and-off. Adjustable side tabs. Two exterior hand-warmer pockets; two zip-closed interior pockets. In cognac. Professional leather clean. Imported.Sizes: S(34-36), M(38-40), L(42-44), XL(46-48), XXL(50-52).

"After deciding that I needed a leather jacket several months ago, I started looking for one. I wanted something warm enough that could be worn in the cold months (in Virginia) and not be too warm during the fall and spring. Although initially I intended to purchase what turned out to be a much warmer jacket from Orvis (Lone Pine, etc.), I am glad that I had a chance to stop by an Orvis store and view the product in person. The Saratoga jacket is extremely well-made; the leather is soft and looks great. While it requires a sweater to be worn underneath during the winter months, the quality and craftsmanship of this product is well worth every penny. For anyone considering the jacket, it does run a bit large. I am 225 and 6ft tall and Large fits me perfectly."

"Excellent material. However it was longer then I expected. I was looking for a waist length jacket that would be comforable when horse back riding. This was just too long. I returned it for credit."

"First the color isn't even close to that in the catalogue,and it fits hanging like a paper sack. The front pockets are too shallow and my cell phone fell out when I sat down. I returned it and ordered the Munitions jacket. Now we'll see how that fairs."

"I have been watching this jacket for quite some time now and after a year of waiting, I finally decided to go for it. I agree with previous reviews that this jacket tends to run one size too big and was happy with the fit of a medium (I'm 5'10" and 180 lbs). The leather is wonderful and high quality. My only disappointment was the color. In the picture it looks like a rich dark brown, but the jacket I received is more of a brown. I'm sure that this has to do with different batches of leather, but for me it was a deal killer. It lost much of the look I expected. I'm way bummed!"

"I ordered this jacket and had to send it back because of the size. Orvis' consistent answer to everything is, The Saratoga Lambskin Leather Jacket (item 82Y7) is cut generously to accommodate an active country lifestyle.
There are some of us who need a small in Orvis' sizing philosophy, especially in the Saratoga Jacket. These jackets are hugh and more designed for the very cold winter with significant layering underneath. This jacket should be adjusted to more of a fall or spring jacket and not winter.
For Orvis it seems, once designed never changed regardless of consumer feedback."

"I received my Saratoga jacket to-day and even though my expectations were high the product exceeded them. The quality is really splendid and the fit first class. The leather is very soft to the touch, but also robust with a worn in look from the start. I am 6' 2" and 200lbs and the the large size was exactly right, both in the body and the sleeves.
I wore the jacket on a shopping trip right away, with my favourite pair of jeans and felt really great.
I also have the featherweight lambskin jacket and the Bandera and have been absolutely delighted with them also. There are cheaper jackets around, but non of this quality. Well done Orvis, you sell some really wonderful products.
I am a UK customer and the reviews from Orvis.Com do not seem to have been carried over to the UK site for this product.

"I'm 5'11 and 180 lbs and usually buy 42R (maybe 44R if the coat runs more form fitting) because I like a little extra bit of room to be comfortable and have flexibility. The Large size is too big ... it looked goofy on me. If i were to order again I would try a medium. Get a Large if you always wear heavy sweaters and/or multiple layers of clothing underneath. Otherwise, if you are on the cusp of a size go smaller over your regular size.
I liked the jacket a lot but I also decided the Witchita Lineman and/or Featherweight Lambskin is more my style .... but Orvis is out of both of them in my size ---- which would be a Medium in this case, not the large as usual. This jacket with the big collar is more traditional and I guess in a cold wind you can turn the collar up. You'll have to see if you like the big collar once you try it on.

"I am 5'9 and 160 lbs. and the medium fits just right. Sleeves are the right length as my arm length is 33".
Added a nice silk scarf and wore the coat to dinner on a cool Spring 40 degree evening. The coat was nice and warm. Well worth the $'s."

"Well made, quality feel to the jacket and feels 'worn in' immediately. I'm 6 foot 200lb and the Large is a perfect fit. This is a lot of money to spend on a mail order item (i.e. before you see it in the flesh and try it on), but the description, sizing and quality is superb. I'd highly recommend this jacket for its form and function; it can be worn as a casual jacket and is stylish enough to be worn when you need something a little dressier too without making you feel under dressed. It looks good, has that worn in, super soft, fitted to you feel and is a good wind stopper too. Give yourself a treat and get yourself one."

"The Saratoga is a great jacket with style and magnificent leather. At 5'10 and 160 pounds it was simply too big for me. When Orvis says a product is cut generously, read understatement. The only way it worked for me was with a heavy sweater or fleece. If it came in a small, I would be wearing it now. Instead, it was returned. Come on O, offer this in a tighter cut for climates that do not need to layer."

"Beautiful high quality jacket. All components are well made. Super strong zipper. Leather quality, feel and drape are great. Good cross between casual and formal. Worth every penny. Styling is great. I really like the length...Not too short that it's cold or drafty and not too long so you end up sitting on it all the time.
Only improvement could be the addition of a couple of more inside pockets. There are two but a little small."

"I asked before purchase about size and was told it ran big--- Length and Body did but sleeves wetre to small/tight. I would reccoment to someone but tell them to be careful about sizing."

"You will not be disappointed with this jacket. If you are ok with the price, the jacket is about as nice as you could ask for. It is extremely soft with a buttery brown appearance. The jacket is also roomy enough to wear a heavy sweater underneath. The only downside is the lack of pockets on the inside. The jacket should last a lifetime. Thanks Orvis - this is a beauty!"

"You don't exactly want a biker jacket and you don't exactly want a bomber, but you want a cool leather jacket? This is a perfect choice. I bought mine in 2006, the black version. The leather is super high quality, rugged and strong yet feels very soft to touch. Looks great. I'm slim, yes it's roomy, but it looks very cool.
When the autumn whether starts settling in, you start to see guys walking around with a similar style jacket, or you see them in department stores. But this one looks way better than anything like it I've seen elsewhere, just from the sheer quality of the leather and the distinctive touches, like the side tabs."

"The quality of the materials and craftsmanship are very good. But I found the coat to be tailored for someone who is extra large (wider than me, and I am 6'0, 220). So, the large size coat hangs on me and even with the adjustable side belts all the way up, it is too roomy. I know you're supposed to be able to wear bulky sweaters underneath, but this is too wide at the middle and in the cuffs. And like I said, I'm a large person, (though HWP, not fat). Disappointing."

"I've had my eye on this one for more than a year and am glad I went for it. The jacket is roomy and I needed to size down to medium but it's a very flattering design, classic and elegant, understated and masculine. My wife thought it was perfect for me and my sort of country gentleman/sportsman style. This jacket makes 3 Orvis outerwear garments and I have the year pretty much covered. I'm very happy with this product."

"I have trouble finding nice jackets that fit well. Typically, they are too long and baggy. This jacket has a terrific fit. I looked at quite a few others before finally deciding to order this one -- largely based on the other reviews. I completely agree. The lambskin leather is soft, the fit is dead on, and the look is tops."
