Dubliner Shearling Coat

Even the depths of January's cold are no match for our genuine lambskin shearling coat. The tanned leather surface of our American shearling hides creates a rugged exterior, while the shearling's fleece side insulates better than any other natural material. The result is an heirloom-quality coat that we guarantee you'll be reluctant to part with once you're back indoors. Two external hand-warmer pockets. The thick collar keeps the chill off your neck. 12½" rear vent for unrestricted movement. In brown. Genuine American shearling. Washable. Men's coat sizes: M(38-40), L(42-44), XL(46-48), XXL(50-52). About 45" long in size large.

"Rather expensive coat, but then unique products usually are. Very comfortable. I live in New England and I think the winters speak for themselves. This is the ticket for staying warm with Style! Many compliments when I were this and my Coronado American Leather Vest underneath,, which was another great product and purchase form Orvis. Recently the weather were I live was 22 F with a strong wind. No problem staying warm with this coat. Got in my car and turned the heat on of course.. withing around ten minutes I had to lower the heat because I was so warm... Great product,, Thanks Orvis!!"

"I pondered buying this coat for months due to its price. When there was a generous discount applied to this I decided to go for it, and sorted out my finances to pay for it (still a lot of money). There were limited sizes available but luckily my size, XL, was there. The coat turned up very quickly indeed, I was very excited and tried it on (not a good idea in June) only to be very disappointed as it was as big as a tent and looked very silly, (despite the fact that it is an outer garment) the sleeves were four to five inches too long and could have fitted another small person in it as well. This is too expensive a coat to mess with and sadly it has to go back as there are no smaller sizes available. One phone call sorted this out, very efficient ORVIS customer relations!
This is not a complaint, but rather an observation regarding ORVIS’ sizing regime. Being an American company, I wonder if there is a Trans Atlantic problem here, as I have read other reviews on the web site, some of which complain about this problem on different ORVIS items. So I am now confused as to what I have to do? The obvious thing will be to order a smaller size on other items and hope that they will fit, and use the exchange system if they do not. This does seem to be a bit of a waste, but is the only option.
Clearly there are not any serious problems with regard to the quality of ORVIS products, just the odd niggle regarding zips and the positions of pockets etc, but this is more to do with personal preference than a defect in manufacture. I am new to ORVIS but am a fan already!
I have no problem recommending this coat to anyone, provided that it fits you properly."
